Powell Peralta Per Welinder Nordic Skull Freestyle Reissue Skateboard Decks

The Viking Skull graphic of the Per Welinder signature model, illustrated by V.C. Johnson in 1984, was meant to reflect Per's Swedish origins. Initially, the fanged fantasy image was assigned to his freestyle model without the rock texture background, which was later added in an updated version in 1986. The eighth century Runic stone lettering on the graphic spells out Per's name as well as the background quote, "Search and strive, push beyond with strength, yours not theirs, that is the key," an idea conceived by Per himself. In 1987, the new full-length graphic was adapted for a street model as Per began performing freestyle and street demos. The graphic was also utilized on T-shirts and stickers.
