One Size Fits Most Chunky Knit Beanie with 2.5" Round Embroidered Vato Rat Patch
The Powell Peralta Vato Rat Beanie Black is a one-size-fits-most accessory that features a chunky knit construction and a 2.5" round embroidered Vato Rat patch affixed to the front fold. Crafted with 100% acrylic, this beanie was made in China.
The Vato Rat artwork was created by artist Craig Stecyk, who was immersed in the Dogtown "Z-Boy" surf-skate scene of the 1970s in Santa Monica. Stecyk's exposure to Hispanic gang culture and graffiti influenced his work, and the Vato Rat became one of the many symbols he used to decorate surfboards and mark local surf spots. In 1983, Stacy Peralta decided to revive the Vato Rat as a Powell-Peralta graphic, which they called "Rat Bones." This imagery was then featured in advertising, on decks, stickers, and t-shirts.
