Street Dragon Patch for Steve Caballero

The Caballero Street Patch is a 2.8" x 4" embroidered patch with an iron-on backing. It was created in 1987 to celebrate the growing popularity of street skating, particularly the success of Steve Caballero on the "Street-Style" circuit.

The Cab Street Artwork, designed by artist V.C. Johnson, features a dragon graphic with a bats and bones background. Caballero's name is also incorporated into the design in the shape of a bat, reflecting his interest in Batman at the time. The Powell-Peralta logo is presented in the Animal Chin font, a signature style of the era.

When applying the patch, it is recommended to use denim or cotton as the base material, as polyester may not provide the best surface. The patch should be placed on a hard surface, such as an ironing board, and the iron should be heated to the hottest setting. A thin cloth should be placed over the patch to protect it and the surrounding material.

To secure the patch, the iron should be pressed down firmly for 15-30 seconds. After removing the iron, the patch should be allowed to cool. To ensure a secure application, the edge of the patch can be gently rubbed to check if it lifts. If it does, the process should be repeated with the thin cloth for an additional 10-15 seconds.

For added durability, the patch can also be sewn around the edges. This method helps to ensure a secure and long-lasting application.
