At a young age, Bucky emerged as an east coast skateboarding wonder. While the story of him starting skateboarding after his bicycle was stolen may be true, there's more to the tale. In Baltimore, a shop owner named Andy took a liking to Bucky, providing him with products and making skateboarding more affordable. Bucky's skills were evident as he entered and performed well in amateur contests, leading to a rise in his profile. In 1989, the skateboarding legend Tony Hawk extended a game-changing invitation for Bucky to visit him in Southern California.

The year 1990 saw the release of what has become known as Bucky's STADIUM model, a graphic design entirely created by Sean Cliver during his three-year tenure at Powell Peralta. The unusual baseball-themed graphic had little to do with Bucky's interest or ability in the sport itself.
