Category: powell peralta deck
The Powell-Peralta "Skull & Sword" deck, designed by Ray Rodriguez, was the first pro signature deck graphic produced by the company. Conceived by Ray and illustrated by V.C. Johnson, with art direction from George Powell, the graphic was initially released in 1979 in two distinct shapes: a 10" x 30" "Widetail" version and a 10" x 28.5" "Snub Nose." These decks were available in a range of vibrant "Brite-Lite" Dayglo colors, including yellow, orange, purple, and green.
Over the years, the "Skull & Sword" graphic was produced in various other colors, and a Powell-Peralta logo was added. In 1983, Ray's signature was removed and replaced with a Powell-Peralta script logo. The graphic was also used for the production of T-shirts and stickers.
The deck specifications are as follows: - Deck Width: 10" - Deck Length: 28.25" - Wheelbase: 16.625" - Deck Nose: 1.25" - Deck Tail: 5.38" - Truck Hole Pattern: Long 4 - 2.5" Old School Truck Hole Pattern - Shape: 271 / Concave FK1
It is important to note that the deck is sold without grip tape, as it is meant to be customized by the user.
The Rodriguez "Skull & Sword" deck was a significant milestone in the history of Powell-Peralta, marking the company's first foray into pro signature graphics. The iconic design, coupled with the high-quality craftsmanship, has made this deck a sought-after item among skateboard enthusiasts and collectors alike.
